Caol Ila is a whisky distillery located on the Isle of Islay, in a bay near Port Askaig. Founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, it is now part of the Diageo group. Its name, pronounced "Caoul-ila," means "Islay Strait" in Gaelic. The distillery is known for its unique and elegant character, which allows it to be part of the Classic Malts Selection. This selection, created over 20 years ago, brings together single malts crafted from the expertise of iconic distilleries in Scotland. Caol Ila is particularly appreciated for its peaty notes and distinctive style, attracting whisky enthusiasts from around the world.
