Macallan

MACALLAN

Macallan is an iconic distillery in Speyside, Scotland, founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley producer. The original name of the area was "Maghellan," derived from the Gaulish word "magh," meaning fertile land, and "Ellan," from the monk St. Macallan Estae. However, the distillery built in 2014 bears no resemblance to the historic buildings.
Today, The Macallan's reputation rests on a product of exceptional quality and distinctive character, based on a set of guiding principles, place, people, and passion. For each Macallan expression, the quality of the whisky largely depends on the oak casks in which it is aged. They carefully select the finest spirit from the stills. Only 16% is retained to create a rich and concentrated distillate, making it one of the best cuts in the industry.
