ABERFELDY

The history of Aberfeldy Distillery dates back to the early 19th century when brothers John and Tommy Dewar, members of a wine merchant family in Perth, Scotland, decided to venture into whisky production. In 1896, after acquiring picturesque land in Aberfeldy, nestled in the majestic Scottish Highlands, the Dewar brothers realized their vision by building Aberfeldy Distillery.

Designed by renowned architect Charles Doig, Aberfeldy Distillery was a model of technology at the time, benefiting from the latest innovations in distillation. Located at the foot of Pitilie Burn hill, it had access to a source of pure and crystalline water, essential for producing exceptional quality whisky.

From its inception, Aberfeldy Distillery distinguished itself with the remarkable quality of its whisky, appreciated for its smooth and honeyed character, as well as its subtle notes of fruits and spices. Aberfeldy single malt quickly became a key ingredient in the famous Dewar's White Label blend, created by John Dewar & Sons, the company founded by the Dewar brothers.

Over the decades, Aberfeldy Distillery has overcome various economic challenges and changes of ownership, but its unwavering commitment to quality and tradition has remained constant. Today, Aberfeldy stands out as one of the few Scottish distilleries to possess its own distinctive conical-shaped stills, contributing to the unique character and flavor profile of its whisky.

Aberfeldy Distillery continues to thrive as a guardian of Scottish whisky traditions, attracting visitors from around the world to discover its captivating history and offering them the opportunity to taste its award-winning whiskies, infused with the authentic spirit of the Scottish Highlands.
