Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength is one of the must-haves on the Isle of Islay. Generously peaty and iodized, this single malt will delight fans of phenolic whiskies. A very fine malt that you recognize without hesitation from the first scent. Bottled cask strength, the typically maritime, nervous and smoky character takes on even more space. No comparison to normal 10 year bottling.
Limit.
Nose: Cereal with sweet notes of biscuit, fresh oak, smoky cedar, shoe polish and old leather combined with a touch of candle wax, vanilla creme, nutmeg and hints of oak.
Taste: Sweet and spicy, with burnt oak staves, barbecued marshmallows, caramel and sea salt, vanilla and caramel Belgian waffles. Notes of roasted coffee creme de caramel fudge and toffee caramel pudding, with a hint of white pepper and crushed cinnamon.
Finish: Floral with spicy oak tannins, iodine and sea salt.
The Laphroaig distillery uses small stills, 3 of which have an onion shape and 4 a conical shape. For lain Handerson, who was the director of this ancestral and magnificent Distillery of Islay, the character of the future whisky is forged during the first distillation, and it is during this first distillation that this single malt Laphroaig, has such an exuberant and singular character, with fruity, peaty and iodine notes. The Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alec Johnston.
