SCOTLAND
Scotland, the leading whisky-producing country with over a hundred active distilleries, produces nearly 700 million liters of whisky each year, offering an incredible array of flavors and characters. Its terroir is now globally recognized, as are its whisky-producing regions, each with unique characteristics that contribute to the diversity of Scottish whiskies.
Talking about Scottish whisky almost feels like a redundancy, given how deeply this spirit is intertwined with Scotland's history and culture. Although whisky has long since won over enthusiasts around the world, it was in Scotland that it was born several centuries ago. The first official mention of Scottish whisky dates back to 1494, in a document referring to an order of malt for the production of "aqua vitae" (water of life) by a monk named John Cor. This record marks the official emergence of whisky in Scotland, though distillation in more rudimentary forms likely began much earlier.
Today, whisky is an integral part of Scotland's identity, inseparable from its landscapes and traditions. The craftsmanship passed down through centuries has shaped a unique culture around this spirit, which continues to captivate enthusiasts worldwide.
At Mon Whisky, we are eager to introduce you to this richness through our selection of Scottish whiskies. From single malts to blended scotch, every whisky we offer comes from the country's most prestigious distilleries, ensuring you spirits of distinction.
