Nose: An elegant cereal backbone opens with notes of butter biscuits, warm bread crumb and golden malt. Layers of candied lemon, baked apple and ripe pear follow, complemented by hints of light honey, vanilla and soft caramel. A delicate saline signature, typical of Campbeltown’s coastal character, weaves through the profile alongside a very subtle, almost whispering smoke. The overall impression is dense yet fresh, generous and unmistakably Springbank in style.
Palate: The attack is ample, oily and beautifully integrated, immediately coating the palate with controlled richness. A gourmand core unfolds, driven by biscuity malt, custard cream and candied citrus, gently supported by nuances of ripe yellow fruits. The oak, both precise and refined, gradually reveals notes of vanilla, toasted wood and brown sugar, adding structure and depth. A saline minerality, paired with a fine bitterness reminiscent of orange zest and oyster shell, energises the mid-palate. The discreet smoke intertwines with hints of toasted grain, walnut and white pepper, enhancing complexity without weighing down the texture. With a few drops of water, the profile opens further to reveal stone fruits, dried herbs and a light waxy touch — a hallmark of the house style.
Finish: Long, persistent and saline, marked by malt, citrus, a gentle wisp of smoke and noble oak that lingers elegantly on the palate.
