Chichibu 8 Year Old 2017 Single Cask #7492 is an exceptional release from the prestigious In the Wake of Silence collection. Limited to only 171 bottles, this Japanese single malt perfectly embodies the innovative and artisanal spirit of the Chichibu distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008. Crafted from manual mashing and distilled in small Forsyth’s pot stills, this whisky was matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel, giving it a rich and balanced character. Bottled at cask strength (64.3%), without chill filtration or added colouring, it reveals the full purity and power of the Chichibu style.
Its aromatic profile combines creamy vanilla, ripe fruit, delicate spices and subtle woody notes, leading to a long and harmonious finish of great elegance. A true expression of intensity, this single cask showcases the excellence of Japanese whisky craftsmanship.
This unique edition is part of a creative and gastronomic collaboration between artist Yoshiya Hongo and two-Michelin-starred chef Shinichi Sato, who interpreted its sensory character through exclusive artworks and culinary creations.

Chichibu is a Japanese distillery founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in the mountainous region of Saitama, near Tokyo. Although young, the distillery quickly established itself as one of the best in Japan, thanks to Ichiro’s vision, a passion for the art of distillation, and a desire to produce exceptional whisky. Chichibu stands out for its use of pure water from nearby mountains and artisanal methods, including aging in oak casks, sometimes imported from Scotland, as well as wine and sherry casks. The distillery embodies both innovation and Japanese tradition in the world of whisky.
