- New

This new Caol Ila 2017 release is a heavily peated single malt from the Very Cloudy collection by independent bottler Signatory Vintage. Distilled in 2017 and bottled in 2025, this un-chillfiltered whisky naturally appears slightly cloudy. It is recommended to shake the bottle before tasting to evenly distribute the natural oils.
Typical of Caol Ila single malts, this whisky reveals a character that is both versatile and powerful, highly appreciated by peat enthusiasts. Lightly influenced by its maturation in ex-bourbon casks, it develops an oily, smoky, and maritime profile, supported by notes of charcoal, camphor, and salted candied lemon. As with the entire Very Cloudy range, this whisky comes from small batches of two to five casks, ensuring a rich and nuanced aromatic expression.

The Signatory trading house is not one of the oldest in Scotland, and yet it has managed to build a very good reputation among great malt connoisseurs. It is best known for its bottlings at barrel strength and without cold filtering, thus allowing the enthusiast to taste their whiskey in the most natural state possible. It also has a distillery.
Caol Ila is a whisky distillery located on the Isle of Islay, in a bay near Port Askaig. Founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, it is now part of the Diageo group. Its name, pronounced "Caoul-ila," means "Islay Strait" in Gaelic. The distillery is known for its unique and elegant character, which allows it to be part of the Classic Malts Selection. This selection, created over 20 years ago, brings together single malts crafted from the expertise of iconic distilleries in Scotland. Caol Ila is particularly appreciated for its peaty notes and distinctive style, attracting whisky enthusiasts from around the world.
