The whiskey was inspired by William Gladstone, a titan of British politics who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom four times. Elwyn Gladstone, founder of Biggar and Leith, is William's great-great-great-grandson. Gladstone Ax whiskeys are made from 100% malted barley and aged in oak barrels in Scotland. THEY take a selection of malt whiskeys from 14 different Highland and Islay distilleries and blend them to create the first two Gladstone Ax Blended Malts.
