BALVENIE 14 Year - CARIBBEAN CASK 43%
Balvenie 14 year Caribbean Cask, an idea of David Stewart, Balvenie's Maitre Chai, is aged for almost 14 years in traditional oak barrels. It is then finished in top quality oak barrels that have contained Caribbean rum, which gives it a perfect finish.
Its original name was The Cuban Selection but after an embargo problem in Cuba, its production was stopped and was replaced by "Caribbean Cask".
This whisky reveals notes of honey, cereals, vanilla, caramel and exotic fruits.
Nose : Rich, the creamy caramel blends with the fresh and fruity notes of mango and flambéed banana.
Palate : Round, slightly spicy, notes of caramel, vanilla, cereal and honey.
Finish : Warm, persistent, spicy with exotic fruits.
Built in 1892 by William Grant, The Balvenie Distillery is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that still grows its own barley. It uses traditional maltings on the ground. Surrounded by a team of "craftsmen" (boilermakers, coopers) the malt master David C. Stewart MBE manages the maturation process with a master hand. Each bottle of this single malt bears the handwritten number of the cask in which it has aged.
