Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 12 is part of the distillery’s heavily peated single malt series, renowned for its bold, cask strength expressions crafted at Glengyle.
This edition is matured predominantly in 90% ex-bourbon casks, complemented by 10% ex-sherry casks, bringing a richer, fruitier sweetness to its smoky profile. Bottled at 58.4% ABV, it delivers an uncompromising and powerful whisky experience.
The result is a characterful single malt where intense peat smoke and coastal notes intertwine with layers of vanilla, dried fruits and caramel. Hints of baked apples add depth and balance, creating a complex interplay between freshness, sweetness and smoky intensity.

The Glengyle distillery is an independent family-owned business located in Campbeltown. It produced whisky from 1872 to 1925, before closing for 79 years. In 2004, Mitchell’s Glengyle Ltd revived the distillery, bringing the ancestral legacy back to life. The name Kilkerran comes from the Gaelic "Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain," referring to the original settlement where Saint Kieran established his religious cell.
Today, Glengyle produces a range of Kilkerran Single Malt whiskies, all naturally colored and non-chill filtered. Every step of production takes place in Campbeltown, where the fresh water comes from Crosshill Loch, located on the Beinn Ghuilean plateau. The barley is traditionally malted on the floor at the sister distillery Springbank, then transferred to Glengyle for distillation. Finally, the whisky is aged and bottled in Campbeltown.
