Nose: Rich and alluring, with notes of candied fruits, honey, gentle spices, and elegant smoke.

Palate: Smooth and balanced, marked by the silky sweetness of Monbazillac, herbal nuances, and deeply integrated peat.

Finish: Long, warm, and slightly winey, with lingering notes of toasted malt and fine oak.

THE BRAND

During the takeover of the EDRADOUR distillery in 2002, Andrew Symington called on the services of Lain Henderson, former director of the Laphroaig distillery, to create a second very peated malt called BALLECHIN. This second single malt from the distillery is made from malted barley at 50 ppm phenol at a level comparable to that of the smokiest of Islay malts. Available since 2006, it has been the subject of an annual vintage limited to 6000 bottles. Even more revolutionary than its predecessor, BALLECHIN is aged entirely in barrels that have contained wine, starting with Burgundy and Madeira.
