NIKKA The NIKKA Nine Decades
The NIKKA Nine Decades is exceptional. It is still the fruit of a blend of 50 whiskeys spanning from 1945 to 2020. The work of art begins with a whiskey taken from the oldest barrel kept by Nikka, a Yoichi distilled in 1945, from several vintages of the same single malt dating from the 1950s to 2020, Miyagikyo from the 1960s to 2020 and Coffey Grain and Coffey Malt from the Nishinomiya and Miyagikyo distilleries, as well as other more recent grain whiskeys from Moji and Satsuma Tsukasa. Echoing the historical links that unite Nikka and Scotland, the blend also includes Ben Nevis from the 1960s to 2020. Superb in blooming maturity and at the same time remarkable in youthfulness of spirit, its aromatic and taste palette is covered with peaty, smoky, apricot and spicy sequences which embody the Nikka Whiskey style with great brilliance.

Appearance: Topaz.
Nose: The sweetness of apple pie and raisins, accompanied by toasted notes of barrel aging, lead to soft smoke and woody aromas. Everything gives the impression of being in the cellar where the whiskey has peacefully resided.
Taste: The mellow oak, with great depth, serves as a base for the spicy notes of cinnamon, toasted nuts and dark chocolate. The subtle bitterness of the peat is balanced by the sweet apricot jam and maple syrup. This warm profile gives the feeling of sitting in front of a fireplace.
Finish: The peat is accompanied by sweet and acidic notes, introducing a pleasant bitterness on a very long finish.
NIKKA
Born in 1894 into a family of sake producers, Masataka Taketsuru is considered the godfather of Japanese whisky. After training as a chemist, he was hired by the Settsu Shuzo company which sent him to Scotland in 1918 for an apprenticeship. He developed a passion for whisky and decided to devote his life to it. In 1934, he built Yoichi, his first distillery, on the island of Hokkaido. Its growing success enabled him to establish a second in 1969 near Sendai, Miyagikyo. It is from the single malts produced by these two distilleries that the Nikka whisky group produces its entire range of Japanese whiskies.
