LAGG Palo Cortado Finish Small Batch 56.2% is an exceptional peated single malt from the LAGG distillery, located on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. This rare whisky is initially matured in bourbon barrels before being finished for six months in old Palo Cortado sherry casks, a rare and highly prized style of sherry from the Jerez region in Spain. The Palo Cortado casks impart a complex balance to the whisky, with dry nutty notes, rich caramel, oxidative depth, and a subtle influence of sherry that enriches the spirit’s character.
With a powerful alcohol content of 56.2%, this Small Batch — the first available outside the distillery — is bottled without chill filtration or added coloring, offering a pure and authentic expression of the Scottish terroir.

Nose: Fresh aromas of juicy peach and white grapes, enhanced with vanilla, almonds, and a delicate smoky peat.
Palate: Rich and smooth texture with notes of orange essential oil, followed by hints of citrus, ginger, and cinnamon.
Finish: Long, warm, and slightly spicy, where orange and ginger give way to gentle smoke and a subtle ashy note.
For hundreds of years, to supplement their income, the small communities of Arran produced their own illicit spirits in homemade stills. The resulting whisky, known as "Arran Waters," was smuggled from Lagg and sold on the Scottish mainland.
Built in 2017, the distillery opened its doors in 2019. It boasts custom-designed stills that now proudly stand alongside the mash tun and four traditional wooden washbacks. The first middle cut of spirit was recorded at 2:35 pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Rooted in age-old traditions with a fresh approach, there is no doubt that this whisky has a promising future.
