THE BRAND
The distillery uses small stills, 3 of which have an onion shape and 4 a conical shape. For lain Handerson, who was the director of this ancestral and magnificent Islay distillery, the character of the future whisky is forged during the first distillation. The Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alec Johnston.
LAPHROAIG
Laphroaig is a Scottish brand and distillery of peated whiskies located on the Isle of Islay, near Port Ellen, founded in 1815 by the Johnson brothers. Laphroaig is unique in that it has its own peat bog. Since 2005, it has been owned by Beam Global Spirits & Wine. Laphroaig is one of the most exciting Islay distilleries to visit (when it is operational) due to the aromas released at each stage of production. Laphroaig is pronounced "la-froyg."
