Royal Lochnagar 12-year-old is a single malt from the Highlands from the blend of second fill bourbon barrels to preserve its fruity and delicately malty aromas. It remains a safe value of Highland whiskies in its category.
Nose: Malty, with notes of varnish, honey, caramel.
Taste: Smooth with notes of wood, caramel, cinnamon and vegetal touches.
Finish: medium length, on oaky notes, a very pleasant touch of vanilla.
The Royal Lochnagar distillery was founded in 1845 in Ballater, Scotland by John Begg. Its proximity to Balmoral Castle, the summer residence of Queen Victoria, allows it to receive the Royal Warrant. Located near the Dee River, it is now part of the Diageo Group, which has retained the traditional character of single malts and is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland.
