Aged in ex-bourbon barrels, selected one by one and dried thanks to the sea air, Old Pulteney 12 YO is the flagship expression of the distillery. Designed with traditional methods that most distilleries have abandoned, this Highland single malt has received many awards. Fine and complex, marked by salty notes, it will seduce lovers of iodized whiskies.
Nose: Complex, intense with notes of green apples, toffee, spices.
Taste: Round, smooth and salty with notes of citrus and honey.
Finish: Creamy and maritime with notes of pastry and spices.
Located in the far north-east of Scotland, established on the port of Wick since 1826, the Pulteney distillery has founded its history through maritime trade. In the middle of the 19th century, the town of Wick had one of the most active fishing ports in Europe. Accessible only by sea, it quickly acquired a strong reputation for its barrels of silver (herring) and gold (whisky) which left the port to be exported to all Europe. The aging conditions due to its proximity to the sea bring to the whisky a particular style, rich and greedy with a salty and iodized character. the range gets a makeover at the end of 2018 to present new aged versions in a new setting, and for the first time introduce a slightly peaty version.
