Renegade 2020 marks the first rum from the Grenade distillery to join the Habitation Velier collection. The Pure Single Rum Renegade is crafted from 100% pure juice from Lacalome Red sugarcane, aged for three years in American and French oak barrels. With congeners notes of 466.4 gr/hlpa, including 207.2 esters, and an angel's share of over 8%, this rum is an absolute global first. It's already regarded as one of the world's finest young rums.
Nose: Opulent and intoxicating, with floral, honeyed, medicinal, and vanilla notes evolving into delicate scents of gum arabic. Upon aeration, fresh sugarcane juice, coconut, pineapple, and kiwi infuse the aromatic profile.
Palate: Lively and slender, with mentholated, spicy, and liqueur-like notes of curry, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and warm sugarcane. Vanilla and dark chocolate flavors create a perfect harmony in the mid-palate, accompanied by a pleasant gourmet bitterness.
Finish: Long and velvety, starting with tannins reminiscent of sugarcane, followed by a saline note, stewed apple flavors, saffron, and autumnal moss nuances. Finally, artichoke notes soften the palate for a most harmonious conclusion.
