the Glenkinchie 27 year old single malt is surely one of the oldest malts bottled for this Special Release 2023. This rare whiskey has been slowly aged for twenty-seven years in American and European oak barrels to obtain an imperiously refined expression of its floral flavors. lush. A hint of fruit at the opening of the nose evokes the image of the apple orchard, soon joined by light touches of almond and vanilla, before lush aromas of meadow grass develop the floral theme. Soft and pleasant in texture, the opulent, rounded taste starts slightly sweet and becomes elegantly drying, with a vibrant woody spiciness that lingers into the dry finish. It is certainly a masterpiece.

THE BRAND
The Glenkinchie Distillery was founded in 1820 in Pencaitland, 25 kms south of Edinburgh near the mountains which provide water to the River Kinchie for the distillation. One of the last distilleries in the Lowlands, producing “Edinburgh malt”, owned by the Diageo group, and run by a woman named Kay Fleming. With a large stills these include a wash still and spirit still. With unique character, Glenkinchie is part of the Classic Malts Selection.
