The Islay Boys are represented by two childhood friends, Donald Mackenzie from Port Charlotte and Mackay Smith from Porthaven. Having traveled to the four corners of the world and drawing inspiration from their various experiences, they wanted to create whiskies that pay homage to their Viking and Celtic ancestors Ketill Flatnose and Magnus Barelegs, whiskies that can be enjoyed with friends and family. Their whiskies are full of character, accessible, and indulgent. You will find the two brands, Flatnöse and Barelegs.
FLATNOSE
Flatnose is a Scottish whisky brand founded by Donald MacKenzie and MacKay Smith, the creators of The Islay Boys. Originally from Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay, they traveled the world before returning to their homeland, driven by the desire to leave a distinctive mark on this legendary island. Inspired by the region's Viking mythology, they named their whisky after Ketill Flatnöse, a 9th-century warrior king. With authentic craftsmanship and a deep connection to local history, Flatnose embodies the spirit of Islay while offering exceptional whiskies.
