Appleton Estate Hearts Collection 2003 is a very rare limited edition. Offered by the legendary Appleton distillery through its Master Blender Joy Spence in collaboration with rum specialist Luca Gargano, the famous Mr. Velier. Distilled in 2003 in pot still and aged entirely in Jamaica, in the tropics, in American oak barrels, this 18-year-old rum was bottled in 2021.
THE BRAND
The history of Appleton Estate begins around 1749 in southwest Jamaica called the Nassau Valley. It is a special environment where limestone formations, caves and underground springs abound. The crystalline water brings a special flavour to the sugarcane that grow in the valley. Today, more than 4500 hectares of canes are cultivated. The brand uses its own indigenous yeast and distils it on pot-still or columns, before aging its rum in old American oak barrels. The entire ballet is performed under the guidance of Master Assembler Joyce Spence, the first woman in spirits to have received this qualification. The distillery is known as Appleton but also as Wray & Nephew.
