BALVENIE 14-year-old The Week of Peat, a Speyside single malt is a blend of traditional Balvenie flavors with delicate peat smoke. It has an exceptional character and is one of the first whiskies from The Balvenie Distillery to be made from 1% peated barley.
It was created when director Ian MILLAR obtained a batch of peat for the purpose of experimenting.
It is during the "Peak Week", when the artisans of Balvenie distill a cuvée of peated malt, that this whisky with a very different style is produced, rich in notes of honey, vanilla and citrus. Aged exclusively in American oak barrels for 14 years, it is characterized by a beautiful sweetness, with perfect balance.
Nose: Floral, caramelied and honeyed notes, accompanied by a light peat smoke.
Palate: Velvety and balanced by peat smoke. Aromas of woody vanilla and honey.
Finish: Round and soft, with a nice balance between smoke, citrus, honey and bourbon vanilla.
