THE BRAND
In 1973, exactly 50 years after the start of whisky production in Japan, Suntory’s second malt whisky distillery was finally opened in Hakushu. The natural underground water that has crossed the mountains of the Southern Alps for many years is fresh and fresh water that contains just the right amount of minerals. The type is different from Yamazaki’s original sake.
HAKUSHU
Hakushu is a Japanese whisky distillery located in the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture. Founded in 1973 by Suntory, it is known for producing characterful whiskies that combine the purity of mountain water with meticulous Japanese distillation traditions. Often referred to as "the forest distillery" due to its location in an alpine forest, this environment influences the fresh, herbal profile of its whiskies. The brand offers a diverse range, including expressions aged in oak, sherry casks, and peated whisky barrels.
