"Huddart" is the name of the street in which the Pulteney distillery is located. It is the name of Captain Joseph Huddart, a local hero who was behind the construction of the town of Pulteneytown and its famous harbour. This edition is a kind of tribute to this man and is strongly inspired by the 1989 vintage, which has been rewarded around the world. This single malt has been aged in bourbon barrels and, unusual for the distillery, matured in ex-peated whisky barrels. Combining richness and complexity, its oily texture is offset by its iodine and smoky notes.
Founded in 1826 in the coastal town of Wick, Old Pulteney is one of Scotland’s most iconic and northerly distilleries. Known as "The Maritime Malt," its whisky is shaped by the wild sea air and coastal climate of the North Sea. Originally accessible only by boat, the distillery grew alongside the herring fishing industry, and this rich maritime heritage lives on in every bottle. The whiskies, aged in oak casks near the sea, reveal subtle salty notes, a briny depth, and a full-bodied character. Today, Old Pulteney remains a proud symbol of tradition, craftsmanship, and the enduring spirit of the Highlands.
