Dalmore 12-year-old is a whisky that makes you want to love whisky. Its sumptuous bottle contains a rich and very aromatic whisky propelling the spices, the cooked fruits and the notes of cocoa to a level of refinement seldom reached. Its flavours of burnt caramel, rich notes of orange and tangerine and a bit of oak, make this Dalmore look older than it is. But it is a substantial, whole malt, where the aromas collide, in particular a dusting of cocoa and some deliciously spicy notes. A must !
Nose : Melted chocolate and orange marmalade. Notes of leather.
Palate : Soft and spicy with an omnipresence of sherry.
Finish : Quite long and complex. Hint of vanilla and orange zest.
Dalmore, owners the oldest stills in the Highlands, one of them has been in operation since 1874. Different “spirit stills” are used and this unique combination makes it possible for this distillery to obtain a very balanced single malt with incredible complexity. To age their whisky, Dalmore largely uses sherry casks of a wide variety : Oloroso, Amoroso, Mathusalem (from the Gonzales Byass bodega in Andalusia). An exceptional partnership in every way. Once the whisky has reached maturity, the different types of casks are assembled to give birth to one of the expressions of their range, the final product resting for an additional period of four months in order to promote the blend and the harmony of the flavours.
