BALVENIE Curious14 years 47.8%
The Balvenie Curious 14 year old single malt comes from The Balvenie's Stories collection. A tribute is paid to the whiskey makers and artisans behind the whiskey. It is also the story of a friendship between Kelsey McKechnie and George Paterson, the two masters of the distillery. During tastings, a slight smoky taste was detected without any peat being used. It was therefore put aside for 14 years in first-fill American bourbon barrels. Bottling at 47.8%, they have retained the house structure without peaty expression. A great discovery...
Nose: creamy caramel combines with fresh and fruity notes and a touch of honey.
Taste: Round, slightly spicy, notes of vanilla, roasted cereal and honey.
Finish: Warm, persistent, spicy.
THE BRAND
Built in 1892 by William Grant, The Balvenie Distillery is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that still grows its own barley. It uses traditional maltings on the ground. Surrounded by a team of "craftsmen" (boilermakers, coopers) the malt master David C. Stewart MBE manages the maturation process with a master hand. Each bottle of this single malt bears the handwritten number of the cask in which it has aged.
