MEIKLE TOIR The Original 50%
MEIKLE TOIR Toir The Original is a Scottish whisky from the GlenAllachie distillery. As the peatiest in the Meikle Toir range, it’s aged in a mix of first-fill ex-bourbon casks, ex-rye casks, and virgin oak casks. Using barley at 35 ppm, dried with St Fergus continental peat, which is sweeter and more vegetal than coastal peat, this whisky boasts a bold character and complex aromas, perfect for fans of intense and refined single malts.
Scottish illustrator Iain McIntosh crafted hand-drawn illustrations for each case, reflecting the Speyside environment. Each of the four whiskies in the range features a differently colored label, symbolizing the nature around GlenAllachie distillery: moss, oak, heather, and sky.
Nose: Notes of ripe fruits, caramel, and light touches of oak.
Palate: Rich and balanced, combining flavors of vanilla, honey, and spices with a subtle peaty note.
Finish: Long and warm, leaving a lasting impression of malty sweetness and delicate smoke.
THE BRAND
In 1967, the Glenallachie Distillery was the fourth distillery designed by William-Delme Evans and built by Mackinlay McPherson. In 2017 Billy Walker, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson purchased the distillery bringing a 100 years of knowledge and expertise to the industry. The water for the distillery comes from dam heads located 2 miles from the distillery. As one of the few independent distilleries in Scotland, it was crowned the winner of the Scottish Distillery of the Year award in 2019 at the Scottish Whisky Awards.
