THE BRAND

The Bunnahabhain distillery founded in 1881 by William Robertson, in partnership with Greenlees Bros, is a Scottish distillery, located in the north of the island of Islay. Today it has the largest whiskey production capacity on the island. The construction of this distillery also triggered the construction of houses, a road and also a port to be able to transport the barley and also ship the whiskey. With the help of its geographical location, in Port Askaig, near the sea, Bunnahabhain produces sweet and saline whiskies. Thanks to its equipment and its two pear-shaped stills, this magnificent Scottish distillery produces a heavy and generally lightly peated alcohol. Following the acquisition of the Burn Stewart Distillers group in 2003, Bunnahabhain has now been producing smoked and peated versions for several years.

Bunnahabhain means "mouth of the cove" in Gaelic, in reference to its location at the mouth of the strait separating the island of Islay from the island of Jura, a real landmark for Scottish sailors, hence the presence of a sailor on the labels of Bunnahabhain bottles.

Bunnahabhain is pronounced Bou-na-ha-venn.

THE BOTTLING

The Signatory trading house is not one of the oldest in Scotland, and yet it has managed to build a very good reputation among great malt connoisseurs. It is best known for its bottlings at cask strength and without cold filtering, thus allowing the enthusiast to taste their whiskey in the most natural state possible. It also has a distillery.
