Founded by Angus MacRaild, also the author of the WhiskySponge blog, the focus is on quality, enjoyment, and a lighthearted approach to life. This eccentric touch is evident both in the blog and on the labels of their bottlings, featuring a sponge character in various interpretations.
Nose: Complex and aromatic with notes of wormwood, aniseed, woodruff, and dried herbs and spices. A more intricate version of Jamaican rum.
Palate: Impressive thickness despite its mouthfeel, with flavors of pickled gherkins, sea water, and grapefruit.
Finish: Mentholated and spicy.
THE BOTTLER
The company Decadent Drinks specializes in independent bottlings of fine spirits and other quality beverages. It primarily focuses on products such as whisky, rum, cognac, and armagnac, with ambitious plans to expand its range to include other beverages in the future. Every month, new editions are released for sale on the company's website, as well as through retail partners and international importers. Based in Perth, Scotland, the company is led by a team of around seven dedicated and passionate individuals.
THE DISTILLERY
Long Pond Distillery is located in the heart of Trelawny, Jamaica, an area abundant in sugarcane. With a history dating back to the 1750s, the production methods have remained unchanged. It is owned by National Rums of Jamaica Ltd.
