The WEST CORK Virgin Oak Cask Finished Maritime Bottle Irish whiskey showcases a unique expression, presented in a bottle inspired by the founding fishermen of West Cork Distillery, Ger and Denis McCarthy.
Ger and Denis spent many years at sea as fishermen on trawlers off the coast of West Cork before establishing West Cork Distillers in 2003, which has since become the largest independent distillery in Ireland with 150 employees in Skibbereen. The three founders embarked on designing a custom, hand-blown spherical bottle with an off-center spout to facilitate pouring the whiskey and, most importantly, to pay homage to their maritime origins.
Nose: Farmhouse and preserved. Straw, oak shavings, bergamot, vanilla.
Palate: Woody and fruity. Pear, freshly cut grass, oak wood.
Finish: Spicy. Black pepper, violet, red berries.
