MEZAN Guyana 2006 Cask Strengh rum is produced at the famous Jamaican distillery Worthy Park. The rum was distilled in 2006 from molasses, using the estate's proprietary yeast strains for fermentation and double distilled in a Forsyth copper pot still with slow fermentation. With an aging of 16 years in ex bourbon barrels, the bottling was carried out without cold filtration, nor addition of coloring or sugar. A rum turned deeply towards gluttony.

Series limited to 146 bottles.

Quantity

Nose: Rich, with notes of flambéed bananas, with a touch of exoticism on overripe pineapple.

Mouth: Fruity with these typical Jamaican notes and its notes of tropical spices.

Finish: Long, with this high number of esters.

THE BRAND

The cellar master of Mezan travels to the Caribbean in search of hidden treasures, these intact, unsweetened, uncolored and unfiltered rums. All Mezan rums are aged in old Bourbon casks until they reach their optimum level of maturity. Bourbon casks affect the final taste of the rum the least. The decision was deliberate, aimed at optimally preserving the particular identity and singular character of each rum. The rums are aged in two stages; first in the hot and humid climate of the tropics, then in Europe to complete the process. The second stage proves advantageous, because it causes less oxidation and avoids an excessive concentration of esters.
