CHICHIBU Paris Edition 2025 “Asakusa” builds a vibrant cultural bridge between Tokyo and Paris. This release is part of the annual Paris Edition series, launched in 2018 by Chichibu Distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto. The Asakusa version, numbered #415 to #828, draws inspiration from the kawaii aesthetic connecting the two cities, notably through a design reminiscent of a postage stamp.
This complex blend brings together single malts aged 5 to 14 years, matured in a wide variety of casks: 4 new French oak barrels / 1 Spanish oak barrel previously holding sherry / 3 ex-Bordeaux barrels / 1 American hogshead / 6 bourbon barrels / 2 heavily peated bourbon barrels.

Nose: Rich and complex, with notes of yellow and tropical fruits (mango, lychee), honey, white flowers, woody touches, and a subtle hint of peat.
Palate: Smooth and balanced, combining soft malt, ripe fruits (mirabelle plum, plum), vanilla, toasted bread, cocoa, and a delicate smoky note.
Finish: Long and elegant, where malt and peat linger with spicy hints (white pepper, cinnamon), candied fruits, and a subtle woody, gourmand sensation.
Chichibu is a Japanese distillery founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in the mountainous region of Saitama, near Tokyo. Although young, the distillery quickly established itself as one of the best in Japan, thanks to Ichiro’s vision, a passion for the art of distillation, and a desire to produce exceptional whisky. Chichibu stands out for its use of pure water from nearby mountains and artisanal methods, including aging in oak casks, sometimes imported from Scotland, as well as wine and sherry casks. The distillery embodies both innovation and Japanese tradition in the world of whisky.
