KILCHOMAN 100% Islay The 13th Edition 50%
For its 13th edition, the KILCHOMAN distillery is producing a single malt distilled from the Publican barley harvests of 2012, 2013, 2014 before aging in 44 bourbon barrels for a minimum of 8 years. The result is a tasty combination of lightly peated barley, the influence of bourbon barrels bringing buttery and vanilla notes as well as caramel notes which go perfectly with the fruity, tangy and peaty character of Kilchoman
Nose: Malt, caramel apple, citrus, banana cake, lavender, iodine and hints of peat smoke.
Taste: Fresh vanilla and peat smoke flavored with caramel, barley, raisins and spicy oak tannins.
Finish: Silky, muffin, butter and honey
THE BRAND
KILCHOMAN was founded by Anthony Wills in June 2005. For more than 124 years a new distillery has not seen the light of day on the island of Islay on the west coast of Scotland. Supplied by the Port Ellen maltings, it now makes a point of bringing in around 20% of the barley grown on its own land. Certainly one of the smallest distilleries on the island, but already boasting a prestigious maturity.
