Caol Ila is a whisky distillery located on the Isle of Islay, in a bay near Port Askaig. Founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, it is now part of the Diageo group. Its name, pronounced "Caoul-ila," means "Islay Strait" in Gaelic. The distillery is known for its unique and elegant character, which allows it to be part of the Classic Malts Selection.
