THE BRAND

Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve is the ageless version of Suntory’s famous Japanese single malt. Made from the blend of mizunara oak barrels, a mythical Japanese tree, and barrels containing sherry or Bordeaux wine, Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve lives up to the distillery’s reputation. The team of master assemblers, under the direction of Shingo Torii, himself, started from a "young talent" whisky that finished aging in French oak barrels containing Bordeaux wine. This whisky is very interesting young, because it develops delicate strawberry flavors, moreover, it is smooth and easy to drink. However, in order to respect the Yamazaki signature, the blenders sought the complexity with the notes of dried fruit of Yamazaki whiskies aged in sherry barrels up to twenty years old. Finally, after various attempts to harmonize these so different tastes, the best choice was whiskies aged in Japanese oak barrels or mizunara. That’s why this Distiller’s Reserve has the round body and depth of Yamazaki whiskies.

YAMAZAKI

Yamazaki is the first whisky distillery in Japan, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory. Located near Osaka, it was designed to produce whisky in the Scottish style, using pure water from the surrounding mountains. The distillery is known for its artisanal production, combining copper pot stills and aging in various types of casks, which gives its whiskies a unique complexity. With numerous international awards to its name, Yamazaki is now regarded as a symbol of Japanese whisky excellence.
