MEIKLE TOIR The Turbo is a Scottish whisky produced by the GlenAllachie distillery. Part of the Meikle Toir range consisting of 4 whiskies, The Turbo is a limited edition sourced exclusively from the heart of the distillate, the cut containing the highest phenol content. This single malt has been aged in a combination of first-fill Bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks. The barley used features a 35 ppm level of St Fergus continental peat, a sweeter and more vegetal variety than coastal peat.
The label artwork on the packaging was handcrafted by Scottish illustrator Iain McIntosh, depicting the Speyside environment. Each expression in the range features a distinct label reflecting the surrounding nature of the distillery: moss, oak, heather, and sky.
Nose: Forest honey, old leather, dark chocolate, roasted hazelnuts, raisins, and burnt orange peel.
Taste: Intense peat with notes of honey, mocha, smoked spices, roasted chestnuts, and charred oak.
Finish: Long with nuances of cocoa powder and peat smoke.
In 1967, the Glenallachie Distillery was the fourth distillery designed by William-Delme Evans and built by Mackinlay McPherson. In 2017 Billy Walker, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson purchased the distillery bringing a 100 years of knowledge and expertise to the industry. The water for the distillery comes from dam heads located 2 miles from the distillery. As one of the few independent distilleries in Scotland, it was crowned the winner of the Scottish Distillery of the Year award in 2019 at the Scottish Whisky Awards.
