The Foursquare Touchstone 14 Year Old Rum comes from the Exceptional Casks range of the eponymous distillery. It is a blend of different rums which have benefited from aging for 14 years, in ex-bourbon and cognac barrels. It was bottled at its natural strength and without cold filtration.
Limited series.
Nose: Complex, blackberry jam, Victoria plums, ripe banana with a tangy lemon este, cocoa powder, rich caramel and butterscotch.
Taste: Soft and sweet with notes of blackberry jam and gingerbread.
Finish: Warm, superb, with a jammy sweetness.
The Foursquare Distillery is now one of the most modern distilleries in the world. It is owned by the Seale family, who have lived in Barbados since 1926 as a merchant. It produces rum in a light style in a three-column still, and another, more powerful style, in a pot still. It produces the best spiced rum in the world, but also white rum, amber rum and old rum.
