

Talisker Port Ruighe is a single malt matured in port cask giving it roundness and sweetness. Slightly peaty, this whisky also reveals spicy and smoky notes. Its balance, malty and fruity character are other very interesting facets of its personality.
Port Ruighe [Port Ree] comes from Gaelic. It is the name given to the main port of the island of Skye on which the Talisker distillery is located.
Nose: Warm and balanced with sweet notes of wood fire and black fruits.
Taste: Smooth, salty and smoky. Black fruits dominate before giving way to a mellow peat.
Finish: Long and smoky, the sweetness fades to reveal cocoa.
The MacAskill brothers acquired the Talisker distillery in 1825 and founded it in 1830. It is located in the northern end of the Isle of Skye in Scotland and is the only distillery on the island. Talisker means the steep rock in the Nordic language. Talisker is the only single malt made on the banks of Loch Harport and is one of the most famous distilleries in the world. Talisker whiskies are greatly influenced by their origin and history. Their smell and taste instantly connect with the wild environment in which they were raised. Its fresh and peated water does not come from streams or rivers but from the 21 underground sources of Hawk Hill a few steps from the distillery The single malt is elaborated in a traditional way and has an oily character recognizable due to its slow cooling out alembic. Talisker whiskies are powerful and complex.
