Dalwhinnie, created in the heart of Scotland's highest distillery, among the coldest regions, is a mountain malt. It has developed its particularity by being conceived in the harsh climate of arid and often desolate landscapes. Distilled in 2006 and matured only in Sherry Oloroso casks, this 2021 version of Dalwhinnie Distillers Edition is marked by the sweetness of cherries, with notes of peat from the moors and heather honey.
Nose : Malty, honeyed, peaty and spicy.
Palate : Spicy, malty with a note of grape.
Finish : Chêne et vanille.
Situated 327m above sea level, Dalwhinnie is the highest of all the active distilleries in Scotland. This is also where, in 1994, the lowest average temperature in the whole country was recorded, only 6 degrees. The Special Release series from the house of Diageo is a set of limited edition and highly coveted whiskies. In 2020 Dalwhinnie was one of eight rare and original cask strength scotish single malts.
