OBAN 12 year - Special Release 2021 56,2%
OBAN 12 year single malt was bottled for the "SPECIAL RELEASE 2021" series. Distilled in 2008 and aged in freshly re-burned American oak barrels, this single malt is surprising, tinged with spices and sunshine reflecting the terroir from which this malt comes : the West Highlands. Soft in texture and slightly fruity in taste, this cask strength whisky, perfectly combines salty, fruity aromas with a light smoky taste.
Nose : Remarkable, Herbaceous with hints of caramel, vanilla.
Palate : Explosive, rich with fruit, deep orange sweetness with fresh oak spices.
Finish : Long and peppery, a light pinch of salt.
Oban and its a perfectly sheltered port, are the capital of the West Highlands but also the natural link between the mainland and the islands. Founded in 1794, the Oban distillery was built by the Stevenson brothers and redeveloped in the 1890s, it remains one of the oldest and smallest distilleries in Scotland. Due to the cramped space available between the cliffs and the sea, the active little town of Oban has remained nestled around its distillery. This natural limitation to its expansion explains why the distillery has always struggled to meet ever-increasing demand.
