OCTOMORE 13.1 is powerful and heavily peated with a phenol level of 137.3 ppm, in other words one of the most powerful in the world. Beyond the peated notes, this single malt has only spent 5 years in American oak first fill barrels, which gives it a subtle balance between smoke and vanilla. It was distilled in 2016 with 100% Scottish barley.
Very limited edition.
Nose : Tangy citrus freshness, smoke, then vanilla, barley sugars, coconut, chocolate, honey.
Palate : The sweetness of the brown sugar balances with peppery notes, followed by a smoke of honey and peat moss with an orange twist.
Finish : Floral and herbaceous finish, with salted caramel, a sweet peated smoke.
Bruichladdich is a whisky distillery built in 1881 by three brothers. It is located on the Isle of Islay on the west coast of Scotland. It is one of nine distilleries on the Isle Islay, but Bruichladdich is to date the only distillery to produce, age and bottle its malt on the island. Following its purchase in 2000, the Bruichladdich distillery was very carefully renovated, they managed to save almost all the original material dating from the 19th century. Its single malt is only very slightly peated, with distinct marine origins, an iodized scent and a palate of salty flavours. This distillery produces two specially peated versions : Port Charlotte and Octomore.
