Habitation Saint Etienne (HSE), is a distillery founded in 1909 in Martinique, known for the quality of its rums.
HSE Finish Single Malt Islay Kilchoman is the result of a close collaboration between Martinique and the island of Islay, producing completely different spirits, hence the interest of this merger.
HSE produces for its part a very old agricultural rum, aged in a very artisanal way, for 6 years under the tropical heat, which is then finished for 4 months in barrels having contained peated single malt whiskey from the Kilchoman distillery, thus bringing a iodized and peaty character.
Nose: nice balance between a fresh agricultural rum and the vegetable peat brought by the kilchoman barrels, giving rise to a spicy, aniseed profile.
Mouth: loaded with sweet spices, peat and whiskey cereals. Naturally woody and fleshy, this rum is very greedy and peppery, despite letting the sugar cane express itself, evolving on candied fruits.
Finish: Round and soft, very long and persistent with beautiful peaty notes that take an important place.
